Lake Placid Non-Profit, Community Prepare for The Arrival of Affordable New Homes

Lake Placid, New York (7/12/22): Lake Placid residents will witness something new when driving down Wes Valley Road this August; the construct on of six Cape style homes designated for local essential workers and their families. The arrival of these homes comes on the heels of numerous improvements at the Fawn Valley site, where each home will be assembled from modular sections. Homestead Development Corp, the nonprofit organization overseeing the creation of the development, began interviewing potential candidates for this first round of housing over the winter and has now approved all applicants to take: ownership of the new homes.

"'The arrival of the Cape Homes marks the end of the first of several phases In the development" said President Steve Sama. ''The next phase includes the addition of sixteen residential Town Homes slated to arrive next year." Ordinally envisioned as condos, the Board of Trustees recently voted to switch to Town Homes to improve the experience of residents within the development community, According to Sama, each Town Home will have two bedrooms, a bathroom, haft-bathroom, living room, kitchens on two floors and full basement. Residents will have all new appliances and level 2 car charging stations included with their new homes.

Support for the development has grown considerably over the past two years. Grants to aid in the construction of Fawn Valley have come from the Local Enhancement Advancement Fund (LEAF) Board, the Cloudsplitter Foundation, Adirondack Foundation's Generous Acts, and several benefactors. Locals In and around Lake Placid recently showed their support for the project by sponsoring a Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds and awareness for the project.
